WHY WE STARTED SHINE

Shine Therapy was founded with a passion to make speech therapy more accessible and to create deeper, more meaningful connections with the families we serve. We started this practice to remove the challenges families often face in traditional settings, including restrictive eligibility requirements and limited access to personalized, high-quality therapy. We believe therapy should be engaging, collaborative, and tailored to each child’s unique strengths and needs. Our goal is to help children grow in their communication skills and build the confidence they need to shine at home, at school, and in everyday life.

HOW WE BUILT IT DIFFERENTLY

Between us, we’ve spent more than fifteen years serving children and families through speech therapy. Throughout that time, we’ve seen how traditional settings can sometimes limit access to individualized, high-quality care and meaningful family connections. Shine is what we built when we got the chance to do it on our own.

Hi, I'm Kate Baker. I'm a Texas-licensed and ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist from Waco, TX. I graduated from Baylor University and have over six years of experience providing speech therapy in both private practice and school settings. I specialize in articulation and phonological processing disorders, receptive and expressive language, fluency, feeding, and AAC. I'm a proud mom of two daughters and have been married for five years. In my free time, I enjoy embroidering, raising my girls, and spending quality time with family and friends. I'm passionate about working alongside children and their families to build meaningful connections and support their child's unique goals. My mission is to help every child develop strong communication skills while also building confidence in their abilities. I would be honored to work with your family during this season of life.

Kelsey F. Brown

M.S., CCC-SLP
Hi, I'm Kelsey Brown, a Texas-licensed and ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist with more than ten years of experience helping children build strong communication skills. Waco has been home for nearly three decades. Here in Waco, I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Baylor University, built my career, and started a family with my husband and our four children. Our roots run deep in Central Texas, and I feel a strong connection to the families in this community. My clinical experience has been focused almost entirely in pediatrics, including supporting children with speech sound disorders (articulation), language delays and language development, pre-literacy and early reading skills, AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), and fluency (stuttering) support. I'm passionate about helping children communicate with confidence and partnering with families throughout that process. Whether your child is just beginning speech therapy or needs additional support along the way, I would be grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside your family on that journey.
