Our services.
We provide evaluation and treatment for children birth to 18 years with continued support for young adults with special needs. Every child works with one of us, Kate or Kelsey, from the first evaluation through ongoing therapy.
SPECIALTIES
Articulation and Speech Sounds
When children have trouble producing certain sounds clearly, it can affect how they’re understood at home, at school, and with peers. We work with kids to develop clear, understandable speech by targeting speech sounds in words, sentences, and conversation
Language Development
Some children have trouble understanding what’s being said to them. Others struggle to express their own thoughts effectively. We help both types: kids whose language is developing later than expected, and kids who need help organizing and expressing what they already know.
Reading and Literacy
Reading challenges often have roots in earlier speech and language skills. We use evidence-based, multisensory, and structured literacy approaches tailored to your child’s individual learning needs, often coordinating with what’s happening in the classroom.
Feeding and Swallowing
Picky eating, difficulty chewing, gagging, or aversion to textures can be more than a phase. We work with families on feeding therapy that gradually expands what your child can comfortably eat.
Fluency and Stuttering
Stuttering tends to come and go through childhood. Early, targeted support changes the trajectory for most kids. We help children build practical tools and the confidence to use them.
Social Communication
Some kids need extra support with the social side of communication: making inferences, taking turns, understanding tone, and finding their way into a group of peers. We work on those skills in ways that match where your child is developmentally.
AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication)
For children who communicate through devices, picture systems, or other supports, we provide hands-on AAC therapy and family training so the whole household can participate.
What to expect from an evaluation.
A typical speech and language evaluation runs 45 to 60 minutes, depending on your child’s age, attention, and the areas of concern. We start with a parent intake to understand your concerns and your child’s developmental, medical, and educational history. From there we move into rapport-building activities and observation through play, or conversation for older children. We then walk through formal and informal assessments based on what you’ve shared and what we observe. Before you leave, we’ll give you our initial impressions and recommendations.
You’ll receive a comprehensive written report with treatment recommendations within two business days.
Ongoing therapy sessions.
Therapy sessions are typically 30 minutes, one-on-one. Frequency and duration are tailored to your child’s individual needs.
How we work.
We see children in our office inside Lighthouse Pediatrics and in schools/daycares across the greater Waco area. We schedule flexibly because we know y’all are juggling school, work, and a lot more.
Investment
We’re a self-pay practice. Not billing insurance directly lets us spend our time on your child instead of paperwork. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and we’ll provide a superbill if you want to submit it to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We are also a TEFA approved vendor.
For specific pricing and scheduling, fill out the inquiry form and we’ll be in touch.
