Simple, clear payment for your child's speech therapy

We want paying for therapy to be the easiest part of your family’s week. Shine Therapy is a private-pay practice, and we offer several ways to cover your child’s care, including HSA and FSA cards and Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) funds. We also provide super bills upon request.

Why we're a private-pay practice

We chose to work outside of insurance on purpose. It means your child’s therapy plan is built around your child, not around what an insurance company will approve. There are no visit caps, no waiting on authorizations, and no diagnosis requirements that decide how many sessions your child can have.

Ways to pay

Payment is due at each session. We accept:

Speech therapy is generally an eligible medical expense for HSA and FSA accounts. Check with your plan administrator if you have questions about your specific account.

Families are welcome to combine payment methods, like TEFA funds plus an HSA card. We’ll work with you to find what fits your family best.

What does therapy cost?

We’ll walk you through our rates on your first phone call, so you know exactly what to expect before your child’s evaluation. The base therapy session rate is the same whether we see your child in our clinic at Lighthouse Pediatrics, in your home, at school, or online. In-home and in-school visits include a travel fee, which we’ll go over with you based on your location.

Using TEFA funds at Shine Therapy Wac

Texas Education Freedom Accounts give eligible families state funds to spend on approved education expenses, and educational therapies like speech therapy are on that list. We’re excited to be an approved provider, because it opens the door for more Central Texas families to get their kids the support they need.

Who TEFA is for

TEFA is a state program for Texas students who attend a private school or are homeschooled. Students with an IEP (Individualized Education Program) on file may qualify for a higher funding amount than other students. Eligibility, award amounts, and application dates are set by the state, so the best place to check your family’s details is the official program site at educationfreedom.texas.gov.

How it works
  1. Get your TEFA account set up. Your family applies for and manages your account through Odyssey, the state’s program platform.

  2. Reach out to us. Fill out our Tell Us About Your Child form and let us know you’d like to use TEFA funds. We’ll set up a time to talk and schedule your child’s evaluation.

  3. Find us in the Odyssey marketplace. Search for Shine Therapy in the marketplace. Kate and Kelsey each have their own profile, so we’ll let you know which one to use.

  4. Purchase your offerings. On our profile, select the offerings that apply to your child, like the comprehensive speech and language evaluation, therapy sessions, and a travel fee for in-home or in-school visits.

  5. Plan month by month. After the evaluation, we’ll help you figure out how many sessions to purchase at the start of each month based on your child’s schedule. That way you’re never paying too far ahead.

TEFA is new for a lot of families, including us, and that’s okay. We’ll walk you through each step personally. We can’t apply on your behalf or answer questions about your account balance, but we’ll help with everything on our end.

Payment questions

We don’t bill insurance directly. We accept cards, HSA and FSA cards, cash, checks, and TEFA funds.

You may be able to. We are able to provide a super bill after each session upon request, which you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage depends on your plan, so check with your insurance provider about your out-of-network benefits.

TEFA is designed for students who attend private school or are homeschooled. For questions about your child’s eligibility, visit educationfreedom.texas.gov.

Yes. Our comprehensive speech and language evaluation is available as an offering on our Odyssey marketplace profile, along with therapy sessions.

Yes. Some families use TEFA funds and cover the rest with an HSA card or another payment method. Just let us know what works best for you.

Every child’s plan looks a little different, especially when travel is involved. We’d rather talk with you directly so you get accurate pricing for your family, with no surprises
